KAPA‘A -- The Department of Public Works has scheduled two more community meetings regarding design alternatives for improving the Kapahi, Opaeka‘a and Pu‘uopae bridges.
Both meetings will be held on Wednesday, April 11 in the Kapa‘a Middle School cafeteria. The first meeting will run from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the second meeting is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
A presentation will be made on the structural condition of the bridges and the design options proposed by the project design team.
Additionally, attendees will be asked to provide input on the proposed designs and to share concerns they may have regarding the three bridges.
Earlier this year, consultant KAI Hawai'i, Inc. completed preliminary studies on the project, including geotechnical studies and land surveying. The data collected along with community input from the first round of meetings were used as the basis for the proposed bridge designs.
For more information or to request special assistance or an auxiliary aid for the meeting, please call Mike Hunneman with KAI Hawai'i, Inc. at 808-791-3980 at least five days prior to the event.
