The following information is provided by the Hawaii Police Department:

A two–day police detail on Kaua'i’s Westside resulted in the arrest of six individuals who were wanted on a total of 32 drug-related charges and one criminal contempt of court.

The effort was conducted by four officers assigned to the Waimea-Kōloa district, who located and detained all six subjects between Friday and Saturday of last week.

Tavis Apo, age 37 of Waimea, was arrested for third degree Promotion of a Dangerous Drug and Drug Paraphernalia. He remains in Police Cellblock in lieu of $2,000 bail.

Rae Nell Clagett, a 22-year-old Kōloa woman, was arrested for 16 counts of Prohibited Acts with a Controlled Substance. Clagett posted her $16,000 bail.

Marcy Fontallia, age 47 of Kaumakani, was arrested on four counts of Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the third degree and four counts of Drug Paraphernalia.

The following information is provided by

LĪHU'E  – A 27-year-old Hanalei woman was arrested last night for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant (OVUII) after crashing her car into a road construction site along Kūhiō Highway.

At about 11:15 p.m., Enjoli Chappy-Barnes was traveling north on the highway at a high rate of speed, just below the Hanalei police substation, when her Hyundai struck a plastic traffic barrier.

Police Recover Body in Wainiha

The following information is provided by Kauai Police Department:

Police are recovering the body of a 40-year-old Wainiha man who was found near his SUV on Kuhio Highway, just north of the Lumahai Bridge.

His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Police have closed Kuhio Highway in both directions, between Lumahai Bridge and Wainiha General store, until further notice.

The incident remains under police investigation, however, foul play is not suspected at this time.

An autopsy will be scheduled to help determine the man's exact cause of death.

Hanamaulu Man Arrested for Arson

The following information is provided by Kauai Police Department:

Police arrested a Hanamaulu man for first degree arson after he reportedly set fire to his home Sunday night.

Andrew Sarita, age 23, is being held in police cellblock in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Officers were dispatched to the home on Hoohana Street shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday, after receiving a report of a man armed with a knife who was setting fires inside of his home.

Police were first on scene and took custody of the suspect and secured the surrounding area.

Firefighters from the Lihue station arrived to the burning one-story home at 10:17 p.m. and had the blaze extinguished by 11 p.m.

The fire was contained to the bedroom where it appears to have originated, according to fire inspectors.

The suspect's father reported minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.

KĪLAUEA  – Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the person(s) responsible for stealing four laptops from Kīlauea Elementary School last week.

According to police, sometime between 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 7 and 6 a.m. on Friday, June 8, unknown subjects broke into several buildings at the school.  Multiple fire extinguishers were discharged in the school cafeteria and four laptops were reported missing.

The burglary is being investigated by Kaua'i police.

Single-car collision results in road closure, OVUII arrest  Kōloa Road now open

KŌLOA – Kōloa Road was closed for roughly seven hours this morning following a single-car traffic collision that occurred at about 2 a.m. Friday.

Richard Hartje, age 24 of Kalaheo, was headed west on Kōloa Road when his Ford SUV struck a utility pole near 4391 Kōloa Rd., severing the pole in two places. The vehicle continued over an embankment and landed in a pasture.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police closed a mile and a half stretch on Kōloa Road, near Mānā Hema Place, while a utility crew worked to replace the downed pole.

The eastbound lane of Kōloa Road was open to alternating traffic flow just before 8 a.m.  Both lanes were reopened at 8:45 a.m.

Hartje was later arrested for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant (OVUII). He remains in police cellblock at this time.

Jury finds Anahola Woman Guilty of  Felony Bail Jumping

Līhu‘e – On Tuesday, a jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Maile Tague-Valvieja guilty as charged of  Bail Jumping in the First Degree, a class C felony. Chief Judge Randal Valenciano presided over the trial. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Rebecca Vogt represented the State of Hawai‘i and the Defendant was represented by Deputy Public Defender, Christian Enright.

This case arose from the Defendant failing to appear for her trial date on October 17, 2011. She had been charged with one count of Theft in the Second Degree, a class C felony, and two counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit Card, one of which was a class C felony and one of which was a misdemeanor.
