Merriman's Restaurants Announces Sustainable Fish Initiative

Merriman's Restaurants is pleased to introduce its first ever companywide sustainable seafood initiative - a statewide collaboration between Merriman's and Handcrafted Restaurants including Merriman's Waimea, on the Big Island, Merriman's Kapalua, Maui, Merriman's Fish House, Poipu, Kauai, and Chef Peter Merriman's newest restaurant, Monkeypod Kitchen by Merriman in Wailea, Maui. The first companywide initiative of its kind will pledge support for the Hawaii Fish Trust Project and sustainable seafood efforts in Hawaii.

Starting August 1 - September 31, 2012 the above mentioned restaurants will offer a daily "Sustainable Seafood Special" consisting of a 3 ounce piece of wild Hawaii caught fish paired with 3 ounces of locally raised seafood or fish.

Tortilla Republic Grill and Margarita Bar is located in Poipu on the south shore of Kaua’i within the Kukui’ula community.

Tortilla Republic opened last summer in August 2011 and brings fresh, modern Mexican cuisine to the Hawaiian Islands. The menu offers classic Mexican dishes with a contemporary twist, and utilizes local Hawaiian fish, produce and other ingredients.

The design of the restaurant features custom furniture, glassware and art pieces—complementing the Mexican cuisine while incorporating touches of Hawaii throughout the space.
